In addition to wireworms, there is also a problem with grubs and click beetle larvae. All of them feed on the roots of strawberry plants and often cause the death of entire plants, sometimes already in the initial phase of cultivation (the first year). Their presence can easily be detected at the stage of digging over the plot before planting strawberries🍓. If we find the larvae of these pests, especially in large numbers, do not plant strawberries there! It would be a waste of our effort and money. Soil pests must be eliminated before establishing the cultivation.🙂🐛
On large commercial plantations🌱, various insecticides are used to effectively combat them, such as Mospilan, Dursban, Nurelle, etc. However, we do not grow strawberries for our own use to spray them with heavy chemicals. Fortunately, we have a safe, biological alternative to insecticides at our disposal😊. And this is both before planting strawberries and during their cultivation. We are talking about bio-preparations such as Larvanem or Nemasys F. These agents contain millions of microscopic nematodes that are parasites of soil pests in each package. They are as effective as classical pesticides and are not dangerous to our health. These preparations, along with instructions for use, can be purchased in many garden stores, including our online store:👉 www.strawberry-plants.ie
Interestingly, it turns out that growing buckwheat on an infected field is very effective in combating soil pests. One cycle of buckwheat cultivation can be as effective as the use of heavy chemicals.
At our store, you can purchase numerous bio-preparations designed to combat diseases and pests in strawberries.
