Must-Have in the Garden – Strawberries. A Selection of Varieties for Connoisseurs!

When choosing strawberry🍓 varieties for hobbyists, it’s worth paying attention to those that are easy to cultivate, resistant to diseases and pests, and also have attractive and tasty fruits. Here are a few varieties that meet these criteria:

  • Senga Sengana: Exceptionally sweet and aromatic strawberry variety, excellent for all kinds of preserves or frozen goods. It is dark in cross-section, making it look very tempting in compotes or jams. Productive and very frost-resistant, exceptionally resistant to powdery mildew and root system diseases, unfortunately, quite susceptible to grey mould, hence it would appreciate protection against this disease.
  • ‘Elsanta’: A very popular variety due to its large, tasty fruits and good resistance to grey mould. Unfortunately, quite susceptible to powdery mildew. ‘Elsanta’ is valued for its excellent taste and attractive appearance of fruits.
  • ‘Honeoye’: This early variety originates from Canada, known for its frost resistance and abundance of harvests. It produces large fruits with an intense taste, perfect for fresh consumption and processing.
  • ‘Korona’: Known for its large, sweet fruits. ‘Korona’ is relatively easy to grow and is characterized by good resistance to some root diseases.
  • ‘Polka’: This variety is resistant to many diseases and offers abundant harvests of sweet, aromatic fruits. It is recommended for both fresh consumption and home processing.
  • ‘Clery’: A very early variety, offering sweet, aromatic fruits. ‘Clery’ is also very productive, relatively frost-resistant, and resistant to most strawberry diseases.
  • Florence: A wonderful variety for amateur cultivation with huge, tasty, and extremely attractive fruits. Thanks to increased resistance to most fungal diseases, it is not difficult to cultivate.
