Where Do Strawberries Come From? And What Are Their Varieties?

Strawberries, unlike many other fruits, are not a work of nature, but the result of the work of the French botanist Antoine Nicolas Duchesne, who in 1712 in the royal gardens of Louis XIV crossed two types of wild strawberries – from Chile and Virginia. 🧐

The result exceeded all expectations. A completely new species was created, which, thanks to its undeniable taste, aroma, visual, and health benefits, spread all over the world.

In the meantime, the effort of breeders resulted in thousands of strawberry varieties with various characteristics.

Currently, strawberry🍓  cultivation is one of the pillars of global horticulture, and the production level of these charming fruits is estimated at over 1.5 million tons.
